What should I expect during same-day sick visits?

When your child arrives for a sick visit at Robertson Pediatrics, a friendly provider greets them and completes the following:

Vital signs check

Your child’s specialist weighs them and evaluates their pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and other vital signs.

Medical history review

They also review your child’s symptoms, medication regimen, lifestyle habits, and medical history to learn more about your child’s health. 

Physical exam

They complete a physical exam, assessing your child’s eyes, ears, breathing, throat, heartbeat, reflexes, and more. 

Testing

If it’s necessary, they order diagnostic tests like nasal swabs, throat swabs, urine testing, blood tests, allergy and asthma testing, X-rays, or other imaging procedures.

Treatment

Your child may need treatment during their same-day sick visit. If so, your provider at Robertson Pediatrics might recommend home remedies, over-the-counter or prescription medicines, fracture care, wound care, minor procedures, or further diagnostic testing. They tailor each treatment based on your child’s needs and refer them to a specialist if they have a serious or complex medical problem.
